if I was bullet proof
and all this didn’t matter
I’d hand you that gun
let you take aim for my heart
try your best shot and better hit that mark

cause all I have is a nice dream
one I had and waited for so long
then forgot it was there

you could break it open and let it out
let it drain and fall on the floor
let life flow by and pass us all
then maybe we’ll pick it up later
when age reminds us it’s still there

a shadow is the distance
between your heart and mine
“take every chance,” they say
“follow your dreams”

and what if I said
you are my dream
will you haunt my life
if I tried to turn away
feel the ghost of you in every sigh
in every tear
rolling down my cheek

would I have the strength
to stay away
if you asked me to go

is everything I long for
something I can’t have
